Website privacy

Tyson Chan operates Automata and this website. For privacy questions, objections or requests, contact [email protected].

We use our own cookieless measurement tool to count visits, views of our getting-started offer, and clicks on our email link, and to understand which channels brought visitors. An email-link click does not tell us whether you sent an email. We do not use these counts for advertising or profiling, and do not sell them.

Your browser sends the product name, the step reached, any campaign tag in the link and the referring site's hostname (not its full URL). Cloudflare Inc. delivers and processes these requests for us and may process data outside your country. Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser details as part of delivering each request and may handle them under its own terms. Cloudflare also works out your country from your IP address, and we record it.

We do not keep your IP address or browser details in our analytics database. We keep a one-way code made from them using a daily key. The key is destroyed within 25 hours; once it is gone, we cannot use the code to trace the event back to you. This is not a persistent visitor identity: counts describe browser-and-network combinations within a day, not identifiable people across days. It is not an unqualified promise of anonymity while the key exists.

Raw events contain a UTC day, not a precise time. They are normally aggregated and removed within 16 days; Cloudflare's recovery copies can retain deleted rows for another seven days. Our retention ceiling is 30 days including recovery copies, unless a prolonged failure of Cloudflare's scheduled cleanup prevents deletion. We keep day-level counts after that, omitting small groups with fewer than five.

We use no analytics cookies and store nothing on your device unless you opt out. Visitors from the EU and elsewhere are counted the same way. Our basis for this limited statistical measurement is our legitimate interest in improving the website and, for UK visitors, the PECR statistical-purposes exception.

Your choice

Your choice applies to this browser; clearing its storage removes it. We also honour Global Privacy Control, but you do not need it to object. You may email an objection or privacy request without charge. We cannot retrieve an individual's past events once the daily key is destroyed.

You may ask about, object to, or request access, correction or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to applicable law. If our response does not resolve your concern, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
